MLM can be a very successful business model that can make you a lot of money, but despite the potential it's also something a lot of people struggle with, mostly because they're doing it wrong.

1. Things You Shouldn't Do...
When you join a MLM program one of the first things they (or your sponsor) will try to tell you, is that you should start by trying to recruit your family and friends...
Big mistake!
You can understand the companies, your friends and family are likely the people you can most easily reach, the MLM company is in business to grow as quickly as possible.
But nothing puts a strain on relationships, like you pestering your loved ones about joining a program they have no interest in. Even if they join, they are probably only doing it for you, and they'll make poor downline members as they don't have the interest in building a business.
Another thing the companies will tell you to do is buy leads (and often they will be happy to sell leads to you). Buying leads is marginally better than pestering family, but still a bad idea - because...
The leads you end up buying have no idea who you are, they don't trust you. They have entered their details somewhere online saying they were interested in a home business - but in reality they were probably just trying to win the iPad!
You'll end up mailing or calling people that have absolutely no interest what you have to offer, and their reaction will likely be hostile.
All you'll get for the money spend on leads is frustration, zero results and quite a few spam complaints!

2. Doing The Right Thing The Wrong Way
Lucky for you the internet has all the solutions to your downline worries. The web is overflowing with opportunity seekers looking to make some extra money - and more and more are coming in every day.
And when you're trying to recruit people into your income opportunity it's of course infinitely easier to target people who are actively looking for an opportunity.
But even when targeting the right people - most affiliates get it wrong!
Lets take an example... Lets say you're a GDI affiliate and you're trying to recruit a downline there...
If you're like most affilates you'll just grab your main GDI affiliate link and start sending traffic to it - and if you've tried this before you'll know your results will be around zero.
There are a lot of reasons for that, here are just a few:
1. Most online opportunity seekers do not buy a product the first time they see it. Even if they end up joining GDI eventually, chances are it will be from someone else's link!
2. Your main affiliate link is impersonal, and people have seen the exact same page a hundred times from all the other people promoting it.
3. If you're just promoting your main GDI affiliate link, you are instantly cutting a big chunk of your target market away. You've lost all the people who are already GDI members and all those who for some reason have decided they don't want GDI (but may still be looking for other programs).
But don't despair... there is a way to turn the table and make all this work to your advantage. There is smart and easy way to recruit downline members for your income opportunities.

So the best way to recruit people to your opportunity is to find people who are actively looking to build a home business. And the easiest way to to do that is to target online opportunity seekers. But that in itself is not enough...
Picture this... If someone is trying to build his or her home business, they are focusing on promoting their own stuff and chances are they won't look twice at your offer (certainly not if you are making the mistakes above).
But if you give them something valuable that will help them build their business, chances are they will join up, and repay you by joining a lot of programs under you.
Lets stick with GDI as the example... Say you're a member of Easy Downlines and your main goal with that is to build your GDI downline.
